World Cup 2010

HHA

The process that begun in 2007 is finished now. All the qualifying games are over and the lottery to form the groups for the South Africa World Cup 2010 is done. In this world cup 32 countries will battle in the field for the maximum prize: the World Championship Cup. And this time a lot of teams that already have reached this goal in previous cups will gather in 2010. These 7 teams are: Brazil (5 Titles), Italy (4 Titles), Germany (3 Titles), Argentina (2 Titles), Uruguay (2 Titles,), France (1 Title) and England (1 Title), and the only nation who has played in all the cups is Brazil. This will be the first time the cup will take place in the African continent. Italy is the defending Champion.

To this date Spain, a Team that never have won a World Cup, is the favorite because is at the top of the classification to the cup and has an outstanding performance in the qualifiers, with a 35 game winning streak since their victory in the EURO 2008. This streak of winning has only been achieved by Brazil before. Brazil comes to the tournament with a streak of 8 winning games and has not lost in their last 15 games. Brazil is an all time favorite in the World Cups and finished their qualification at the top of the CONMEBOL table. Italy finished a very successful campaign at the first place of his group, and without any loss in 10 games in the final Stage of qualifying with a record of 8 wins, 2 draws and 0 loses. Germany finished first on his group. England finished first of its group also, with 9 victories and 1 loss.

Argentina had a bumpy ride and caught the last remaining position in the qualification for the CONMEBOL in forth place, way behind the 3 first spots.

Another team to look upon isthe Netherlands. This team has never won a championship, but has come as a runner up in more than one occasion and always has come with a good competitive threat to its rivals. Uruguay doesn't have the same edge in recent years and comes to the cup after a home and away play-off against the fourth place in CONCACAF. This same scenario goes to France who met the Republic of Ireland and won the last place to the cup.
